By installing and using the app, you accept these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy.

1. About the app

AFB Creator (the “App”) is published by AfriBook, represented by Tshitenge Jean Claude (the “Publisher”). It is offered as a partner product of the AfriBook social network, but no AfriBook account is required to use it. These terms govern the use of the App by any person (the “User”). If you do not agree with these terms, you must uninstall the App.

2. Description of the service

The App lets you compress videos and images to reduce their size, convert videos to audio files, process several files in a batch, perform simple video edits, and apply quality settings and filters. Files are processed directly on the User’s device.

3. Free version and Pro Mode

The App is offered with a free version, subject to a trial period and then to a daily usage limit, as indicated in the App. Pro Mode, available by subscription, includes unlimited compressions, batch compression and no advertisements. The Publisher may change features, limits and offers, while respecting Users’ rights.

4. Subscriptions and payments

Subscriptions (monthly, yearly or lifetime, depending on the offers available in the App) are purchased exclusively through Google Play. Payments, billing, subscription management and cancellation, and any refunds are governed by Google Play’s terms. The Publisher does not receive or store any payment data.

Subscription tied to the device. The subscription is attached to the device on which it was activated. If that device is lost, stolen, broken, factory-reset or replaced, the subscription expires and access to Pro Mode ends. The User must then purchase a new subscription. No claim, restoration, transfer or compensation may be requested from the Publisher on this basis, subject to the mandatory rights granted to the User by applicable law.

5. License to use

The Publisher grants the User a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to use the App on their devices in accordance with these terms. The User must not, in particular:

copy, modify, distribute, rent or resell the App;
bypass, disable or tamper with usage limits, license verification or security measures;
use the App for unlawful purposes or to process content they have no right to use;
attempt to disrupt the services associated with the App.

The App, its name, logo and graphic elements remain the property of the Publisher and are protected by intellectual property laws.

6. User content

The photos, videos and audio files processed by the App remain the property of the User. They are processed on the device and are not sent to the Publisher. The User is solely responsible for the content they process and share; the User warrants that they hold the necessary rights (copyright, image rights, third-party rights) and agrees to comply with applicable laws and the rules of the platforms where they publish.

7. Quality of results and backups

The size reduction and visual quality obtained depend on the original files and the selected settings. The Publisher strives to preserve the best possible quality but does not guarantee identical results for every file. It is recommended to keep the original files until the result has been checked.

8. Availability and updates

Some features, such as license verification and purchases, require an Internet connection. The Publisher may release updates and, where necessary for security, compatibility or proper operation of the service, make an update mandatory in order to keep using the App. The service may be temporarily interrupted for maintenance.

9. Liability

The App is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, the Publisher shall not be liable for data loss, indirect damages, temporary unavailability of the service, or the use the User makes of the files produced. These limitations do not apply where the law does not allow them.

10. Suspension

The Publisher may suspend or withdraw access to the App, or to some of its features, in case of breach of these terms, in particular any attempt to bypass limits or the license.

11. Changes to these terms

The Publisher may change these terms. The current version is published on this page with its update date. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law applicable at the Publisher’s place of establishment, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protection provisions of the User’s country of residence.
